I saw women around me constantly doing different diets that required them to restrict certain foods all in the name of being thin. I was also one of those women, but after healing myself mentally and physically I decided it was time to create a coaching method that EMPOWERED women. Now I help people build healthy and sustainable habits that ensure long-term success and a lifetime of health and happiness
My journey is important to how I’ve developed into the coach that I am.
As a teen and young adult, I struggled with body dysmorphia and disordered eating. I wanted to be thin at all costs, and sometimes this meant I was restricting food and calories, exercising too much, and constantly unhappy with my body. I counted the food, calories, and macros for years until I forgot how to feed myself innately. I went through cycles of restricting until I binged, felt extreme guilt and tried to compensate with more restriction.
I struggled with this through high school, college, and my young adult years. As I transitioned from corporate life into fitness culture, for a while I could disguise my disorder as being “disciplined”. Ultimately, I realized I needed to be a role model for the people I coached. It was this realization, my Precision Nutrition education, and therapy that finally helped me to begin to heal. I practiced the PN techniques on myself, deciding that if I was going to coach people to live healthier lives I needed to be living that life. I made peace with the body I was given and worked hard to change my self-talk to promote body kindness. None of this happened overnight, and to this day I believe 2019 was my biggest year for growth.
I apply my experiences to my coaching – I bring an empathetic approach while encouraging self-love, patience, and a growth-mindset. I understand that the number on the scale is not ultimately what decides your worth, so I encourage the use of other measurements to determine progress. I meet my clients where they’re at, and use a collaborative approach to ensure a positive experience.
I hope that if you read this thinking, “that’s me”, you will feel comfortable reaching out to see how I can help you change your relationship with your body and food.
