Life Coach vs. Business Coach
There can be a lot of overlap between Life Coaches and Business Coaches, because in reality your life isn’t segmented into perfect boxes, where one doesn’t effect the other. Both aspects are interwoven. Because of this, conversations you might have with you life coach may very well be about your business or career, and vise versa. But there is a fundamental difference between the two, and that is the level of expertise and experience the coach offers.

Business and Executive Coaches have experience and skills that include specific business related aspects such as negotiation, communication, leadership, business strategy, finance, marketing, operations, and long term planning. You don’t need to be an entrepreneur to benefit from a business coach. Many C-Level executive, Mid-Level management, and Entry-Level employees greatly benefit from guidance in these categories to grow and get that next position quickly and efficiently.
Where as life coaches have specializations typically in more personal growth aspects of your life. Such as interpersonal skills, uncovering limiting beliefs and self sabotage, managing your time and energy, relationships, and happiness.
Many people think, “Well can’t I just study these different skill sets on my own, and grow just as much without the coach?” In our opinion, yes, you absolutely can, but what makes coaching so valuable is that 1) it typically allows you to learn something the might have taken you five years in one year, and 2) it typically opens your eyes to new thoughts, ideas, and perspectives that ultimately influence all aspects in your life quickly.
We are in a new world today where mentors don’t come around as easily as they did a few generations ago. Since people aren’t staying with one company their whole career, they aren’t developing those relationships with senior management to foster mentor-mentee relationships. We are also living in a much more fast pace digital world where people don’t spend as much time together face to face. All these factors contribute to the drastic decline in mentorship across the country. From this issue a solution has blossomed, paid coaches. These coaches online can now reach people across the country, even across the global and share their insights and knowledge in the same way a mentor used to guide and advise their mentee.
